Outsourcing versus permanent hire. The financial benefits to you...

In the 2024 Autumn Budget, Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced the rate of employers’ NICs will increase from 13.8% to 15%, from 6 April 2025.

Based on a simplified calculation example*, a typical cost to an employer, based on National Minimum Wage, would be as follows:

  • Annual salary: £25,396.80
  • Holiday pay (estimated): Approximately 10% of annual salary = £2,539.68
  • Pension contributions (3%): £761.90
  • Employer NICs (15%): £3,809.52
  • Total additional costs: £7,111.00 (approximately)
  • Total annual cost: £25,396.80 + £2,539.68 + £761.90 + £3,809.52 = £32,507.90 (approximately)
  • Total Cost as a multiple of salary: £32,507.90 / £25,396.80 = 1.28

Therefore, the total cost of employing someone on the National Living Wage, factoring in these costs, is approximately 1.28 times the employee’s basic salary, or around £32,507.90 per year.  And that’s not factoring in items such as onboarding costs, training and development, time and resource spent managing employees, office space and equipment, and the cost of replacing employees who leave (not including potential sickness leave or maternity/paternity leave).

Compare this to our packages above, for example, a 12-month term at Gold package (£16,992).

A saving of £15,515.90 and the services of a CIM qualified marketer with 17+ years’ experience!
